Challenge 1 – Exercise every day

I can’t believe a whole year has passed already. Where did the time go? It seems as if I started this little project yesterday and yet it’s been months since I last posted.

So what  happened to the weightloss plan? In a nutshell …nothing. I went to New York, had a blast and bought some cute clothes. Slimfast  became a thing of the past. I joined an exercise class with Neval from www.nghealthandfitness.com. He’s a really cool guy and excellent personal trainer but I really wasn’t putting in the time with him to see any positive results. That’s when I decided to start my monthly challenge. My reward for the exercise challenge - read on

The Unsuccessful Dieter

I did everything WRONG.

First I forgot to weigh myself and so had no idea what was my starting weight. This would have made it quite hard to gauge any progress I would have made. My forgetfulness was probably due to the fact that generally I hate scales because they always seem to be telling me a number I don’t like. But in this case since I’m  actively making an effort to lose a few pounds I at least need to know where I am so I’ll know when I reach the target.

Then over the weekend the idea to use slim fast

Nothing but everything to lose – A weight loss journey

Pear on a diet losing inchesIn December my family and I will be visiting New York for two weeks and I’ve decided to use the upcoming visit as just the motivation I need to lose a pound or twenty. I’ve always been a big, curvy, girl and actually cannot remember ever wearing anything below a size 16. I do however take care to eat and exercise enough to make sure the fat and jiggles all land in the right places. Fortunately, I come from a culture that celebrates ‘a little meat on the bones’. If you’re very slim, people start to wonder if you’re sick. That said, I do still want to lose weight because I have this tremendous love affair with clothes and right now I’m at a size where I find myself beyond the reach of the nice ‘skinny-girl’ clothes and still not quite large enough to wear the really fashionable plus size ones. Furthermore I have that quintessential curvy girl problem of an XL top on a 3XL bottom. I decided to look into losing a few pounds

Four things to consider if you want to acquire riches God’s way

steps to wealth, building wealth God’s wayIn March 2010, Forbes brought out their annual list of billionaires. Although the world was in the middle of a recession these super wealthy found a way to become even wealthier.

Wow I thought, amazing! What was it that caused those people to do so well even during horrible economic times? What differentiated them from the other average struggling person who just couldn’t get it together? Was it talent, education, self-belief? Luck? All of the above? Why do some talented people succeed while other do not?

I spend More than I Earn – Facing the truth

Falling into debtI ended up in debt like most people – going head first down the vortex. I was fortunate in that I did not have an unexpected emergency like the sudden illness of a loved one which causes people to go from managing their  money well  to suddenly having having tens of thousands of dollars of debt. No, for me the journey into started innocuously – a new dress here, a vacation there. Then the car needed a major service and the house needed to be refitted. Suddenly a month came along when I was dipping into my savings to pay a bill or bills as the cases may be. Then another month required the same withdrawal, and another, and another… Before I knew it, it was a debt landslide and I was continually withdrawing from my savings until I looked at the balance ….and there was none. To make matters worse, this was all before the recession hit. How much do I owe?

God’s Plan for your Money – Book Review

Derek Prince book God's Plan for your Money At no time has it become more important to have a plan for how you spend your money than in today’s economy.  So many of us are in debt (me included) and trying to find a way out.  So many people are using personal savings to pay bills and are barely able to stretch their pay checks month after month.  In fact we would be glad if we could survive on our checks alone.  Am I right?

We are plagued with concerns about how long it will take to payoff our creditors and whether we can keep our credit ratings in good standings. The point is we need help …all that we can get and there is no better way to do this than to educate ourselves about the tools and strategies we can use to manage our personal finances. Hello world! I made it.

Success!

After reading numerous articles, watching countless youtube help videos, 6 prayers and two tries at the installation, I finally got WordPress 3.0 installed by myself. Yup After 2.5 hours. I did it! Go ahead and laugh… I am.

Now the fun really begins as I try to figure out pluggins, taxonomy  and seo while remaining sane.
